The Best Summer Skin Protection

Hinsdale skin protection

It’s fun to soak up the sun – but make sure you don’t overdo it!

Summer’s almost here – and with it, plenty of opportunities to get outside and into the sunshine. But whether you’re at the beach, a music festival, or a barbecue, there’s one tip you always need to remember: protect your skin from sun damage. No matter the shade of your skin, it’s crucial that you protect it from harmful UV rays. You’re not only conserving the appearance of your skin, you’re helping prevent premature aging, and reducing your risk of skin cancer.

How to Protect Your Skin

  • Appropriate clothing – We know it’s hot, but resist the urge to bare everything. Hats, sunglasses, and loose-fitting but tightly-woven clothing will help prevent skin damage. You can also find clothing made with sun protective fabric to keep your arms and back safe.
  • Sunscreen – Always wear sunscreen in the summertime. If you have sensitive skin, use a gentle moisturizer with SPF to protect your face without making your skin break out.
  • Limit sun exposure – The most dangerous time to be in the sun is midday (from 10am-4pm), when the sun is highest in the sky.

Removing Signs of Sun Damage

Ongoing skin protection is key, but that doesn’t mean past sun damage is permanent. If you’re unhappy with brown spots that have formed on your face, neck, limbs, or hands, the Laser Aesthetic Center offers IPL treatments to remove hyperpigmentation. Our new PicoSure Focus laser is also highly effective on skin spots of all colors.*

Your skin is the largest organ in your body – and it defines so much of who you are. Treat it with respect to see your appearance staying young, fresh, and healthy. If you ever have questions about sun-damaged skin, just get in touch.
