Botox & Dysport

Experiencing stress is unpleasant enough – those moments of concentration shouldn’t leave traces on your face. But frowns and brow furrows have an undeniable effect on your skin. After years of facial expressions and frustrations, you may find vertical and horizontal forehead lines putting a damper on your life. Don’t put up with these imperfections. Botox or Dysport injections gently smooth out wrinkles and leave your face looking youthful & refreshed.*

How Botox & Dysport Work

  1. As your facial muscles contract, facial skin is pushed and pulled in different directions. Repetitive moments lead to the formation of wrinkles.
  2. In order to smooth these lines, the muscles responsible for them need to relax. But because so much of that muscle movement is involuntary, it’s tough to keep your brow unclenched on your own.
  3. Neuromodulators break the communication chain between muscles and nerves, leading to forced muscle relaxation.
  4. In the week after treatment, you’ll notice your brow lines disappearing from your upper face.*
  5. Botox & Dysport are ideal for both vertical and horizontal lines that form when you clench your forehead muscles, as well as crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes.
  6. Because different patients have lines of different depths, we will recommend a certain number of injections to achieve desired results. Results typically last between 3-6 months.*

What is the difference between Botox and Dysport?

Botox and Dysport are two different neuromodulators that deliver similar results. They both work the same way – by relaxing facial muscles – but have different formulas.

  • Dysport is more diluted, meaning you’ll need more units than you will with Botox.
  • Dysport also spreads more widely than Botox, so it can be ideal for larger areas like the forehead (where Botox may be ideal for smaller areas like around the eyes).
  • Our providers will evaluate your facial structure and facial lines to determine which injection is appropriate for each area.

When to Begin Botox or Dysport Treatment

Botox and Dysport are some of the most popular injections available, among many different age groups. Middle-aged patients with existing facial lines use neuromodulators to regain youthful skin. And younger patients (even some in their 20’s) choose Botox or Dysport to prevent wrinkles from ever forming.* Depending on your aging concerns, taking an offensive approach to facial lines may be the ideal plan.

Botox and Dysport FAQ

Where on your face can you get Botox or Dysport?

Neuromodulators are appropriate for wrinkles and fine lines caused by repetitive muscle movements. This typically means the forehead, between the brows and around the eyes. Botox and Dysport are appropriate for frown lines, 11’s between the eyebrows and crow’s feet.

Is Botox safe?

Botox and Dysport are safe when administered by a qualified medical professional. The injections consist of botulinum toxin, which prevents treated muscles from moving. Neuromodulators are injected in small doses to achieve safe, careful muscle control. As with all medications, there are potential side effects. Talk to Dr. Muasher at your appointment about what you can expect from treatment.

How long does Botox last?

The length of your results depends on a range of factors, including the treatment area, number of units and your skin. Botox results typically last between 3-4 months and Dysport results last up to 5 months. Dr. Muasher will discuss what you should be able to expect from treatment results at your consultation.

What’s the difference between Botox and Dysport?

The two injectables are very similar in formulation. That said, Dysport is more diluted than Botox so more units are required (but they are priced the same so you are not paying more for Dysport vs. Botox). Dr. Muasher will determine which is ideal for your cosmetic goals.

What age should you start getting Botox?

Patients choose to begin Botox or Dysport treatments at many different ages. The majority of patients already have fine lines or wrinkles on their foreheads or around their eyes that they are hoping to treat. Some are interested in preventative Botox to prevent forehead wrinkles from forming in the first place. If you’re unsure about whether you should begin Botox treatment, schedule a consultation to have a one on one consultation with our physician.

How much do Botox and Dysport cost?

Treatment costs range; we may be offering a special or package that can be applied to your injections. Give us a call at (630) 920-9155 to find out what we are currently offering.

Botox isn’t your only non-invasive wrinkle treatment option. If you’re frustrated with facial lines across the lower half of the face, Juvederm or Restylane could offer the volume boost you’ve been seeking.*
